Psychedelic Club at UCSD
Spring 2022—now
I joined psychedelic club around when it started and enjoyed their meetings. Open-minded and welcoming, they brought together an awesome group of people and I wanted to contribute to helping it grow. I began by putting together the graphics for their posts and took on the role of graphic designer.
since then, I’ve designed numerous social media graphics, some merch, and grown as a visual designer.

To convey the identity of the psychedelic club, I wanted to design posts that were visually striking and “trippy” but still felt coherent and professional.
I decided that a gradient background was versatile enough to express a variety of themes while staying true to our funky aesthetic. I experimented a lot but settled on a illustrative, colorful style.
I’ve improved a lot in my illustrator and photoshop skills through this process as well, as you can see below lol
Overall, it’s been a rewarding experience to see my designs help a community I care about.
Designing Merch
As our club grew, we realized we wanted to be able to put together events that require funds. Our organization decided that releasing club T-Shirts and using the profits to fund our outings, bonfires, and other socials would be the way to move ahead. I began to wonder what elements would look wearable on a T-shirt while being recognizable as psychedelic club at UCSD.
I drew inspiration from the style of vintage playing cards! I was drawn to their symmetry and thought that their aesthetic would work well with the mushroom illustrations I was sketching.
Here is the final T Shirt that is being printed right now. The T-Shirt is meant to be tie-dyed at our club’s tie-dye social where we will be distributing the shirts.
As of now, we have raised over $800 with the pre-sale orders (still available)
Our club will be hosting a tie-dying event with free supplies 2/10. Feel free to join us with a psychedelic club T shirt!
Tie Dye Event
As a designer, it will be so rewarding to see my design and the creative input of the people who bought the shirts combine as they tie-dye their shirts! It is an honor being able to be a part of Psychedelic club’s first merch drop.
